Women line up for check up

The various lockdowns, the government services’ concentration of activities on Covid 19, and the consequent fear of infection among the medical community as well, have left the poorer levels of the population with no resources to turn to in case of need. Moreover the staff in primary health centres in rural areas are mainly occupied with the detection of Covid cases with disregard of the “common” ailments and diseases like TB, malaria, etc.

Our clinics are therefore quickly picking up, as people are desperate for some care. Covid has robbed people affected with leprosy and TB as well as pregnant women and malnourished children of the urgency their needs are entitled to. Hundreds have come. Since mid August our paramedical staff are in the field every day defying the danger of infection and our doctor and pathology lab technician unfailingly attend the clinics.
