In the previous news I wrote about the heat coming on heavily in May, but actually something much worse than that hit us unexpectedly in June with a steady torrid heat that lasted for three weeks. Relief came with early monsoon rains, but alas after the first illusion of a good monsoon the rains continued very erratically throughout July and August. In fact at the end of August the overall situation in Bihar and particularly in Gaya District was 40% deficient monsoon. Much of cultivations are lost. We dread the constant depletion of the underground water table.
