This morning was the scene of a horrific spectacle when part of the generator building was engulfed in flames. Two workers and our volunteer staying at the guest house were the first to arrive and to try and put the fire out, which had spread through the roof into the adjacent trees. They managed to reduce the intensity of the blaze and the reinforcements arrived from the rest of the campus.
It took over half an hour to fully extinguish. Everything inside was destroyed, as well as the roof. The electricity main line was cut off. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt and the generator was untouched. Of course this is another cost and burden for MAITRI and if you can assist in any way, please let us know.
